Goal for Good Cup – A Football Tournament Marking World Prematurity Day

Football is more than just a sport; it’s a powerful tool for change. One of Bangalore’s top football clubs, South United Football Club (SUFC), in collaboration with the Neonates Foundation of India, organized an exciting football tournament for young players titled ‘Goal For Good Cup’. It was a tournament with a difference. Held between Children’s Day on 14th November and World Prematurity Day on 17th November, young children played to raise awareness about newborn survival in India.

Event Details:

The ‘Goal For Good Cup’ took place on Saturday, 16th November 2024, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the South United Football Club ground in Ulsoor, Bengaluru. The tournament followed a knock-out format, where teams battled it out to secure their place in the final rounds. The event was open to both boys and girls, offering an inclusive platform for young footballers to showcase their skills.

A Tournament with a Purpose

While the tournament featured competitive football action, it’s important to remember that the event was not just about winning matches — it was about making a positive impact on the lives of children in need. The ‘Goal For Good Cup’ was held in partnership with the Neonates Foundation of India, an organization dedicated to supporting underprivileged children, particularly those in neonatal care and facing life-threatening medical conditions.

Through this tournament, South United Football Club (SUFC) and the Neonates Foundation of India aimed to raise awareness about newborn survival in India. It was a fantastic opportunity for families and children to come together, play football, and contribute to a cause that touched the lives of many.

The ‘Goal For Good Cup’ wasn’t just about football; it offered children a chance to learn teamwork, sportsmanship, and community service. Participants improved their football skills, experienced the joy of giving back, and built connections with peers from diverse backgrounds. For parents, it was an opportunity to teach social responsibility through a fun, healthy activity—all with free registration, making it accessible to everyone.

A Day of Football and Giving

The ‘Goal For Good Cup’ was more than just a football tournament — it was a celebration of young players, community, and compassion. With the generous support of the Neonates Foundation of India, South United Football Club (SUFC) created an event that was fun, inclusive, and impactful.
